Scope, operator & accountability

This notice applies to the current NIYAMA-VIDYĀ website, its public information pages, authenticated learner workspace, registered learning content, feedback-submission features and support-request features. NIYAMA-VIDYĀ Learning Library is an independently operated educational website based in Ontario, Canada; it is not presented as a corporation or staffed organisation.

The accountable role is the NIYAMA-VIDYĀ Privacy Lead. Privacy inquiries, access or correction requests and complaints can be directed to that role.

Data-minimisation principlePublic information and trust pages should not require an identity. Authenticated features should process only the information needed for secure access, private learning continuity, learner choices and requested support.

Purposes and legal grounds where required

NIYAMA-VIDYĀ processes personal information for the specific purposes below. The legal permission that applies depends on the law and circumstances: it may include your request or consent, providing the account or support service governed by the Terms of Use, protecting legitimate website and learner-security interests where permitted, or meeting a legal obligation.

04

Saved learning state

When a registered learner opens protected content, NIYAMA-VIDYĀ can create or update private learning continuity linked to that learner's authenticated account.

Recent activityThe registered learning item most recently opened, its last-visited time and an optional resume location.
Progress statusIn-progress or explicitly completed status for tracked Chapters, Parts, Labs, Projects and Challenges.
BookmarksLearning items the learner intentionally saves for later.
Dashboard & completion stateDisplay preferences and completion summaries calculated from the learner's own tracked status.

Opening a registered item can mark it in progress. Completion remains explicit: only the learner's completion action marks an item complete. The full-library certificate is an educational completion credential, not a professional certification or decision carrying legal effect.

05

Technical information processed when you visit

Website hosting, network and security services may process request information needed to deliver and protect NIYAMA-VIDYĀ, including IP address, browser/request metadata, requested URL, timestamp, response status and abuse or security signals. These records support page delivery, reliability, rate limiting, troubleshooting and security investigation.

NIYAMA-VIDYĀ does not currently run a behavioural advertising program or intentionally use learner-account information for cross-site tracking. If analytics or advertising practices materially change, this notice must be updated before or when those practices become active.

06

Cookies and browser storage

The browser authentication client is configured to persist and refresh the sign-in session. NIYAMA-VIDYĀ also uses a secure, HttpOnly, Secure and SameSite session cookie so the website service can recognise a signed-in learner for protected account features and learning routes. The server-readable cookie is limited to the authentication-token lifetime and never more than 24 hours for a single issuance; the authentication client may refresh an active session under the provider/account-service rules.

Short-lived browser session storage can hold the safe return destination and whether the learner chose Sign In or Create Account. Those values are removed after the authentication flow and ordinarily disappear when the browser session ends. The Feedback form does not save a draft before submission.

Signing out clears the active NIYAMA-VIDYĀ server session. Browser or provider data may also be cleared using the relevant browser or provider controls.

07

External services, recipients and international processing

NIYAMA-VIDYĀ uses Google, GitHub and LinkedIn as the learner-selected sign-in providers. It also relies on service-provider categories that supply managed authentication and data storage, website hosting and content delivery, network protection, and operational security. Those providers receive only the information needed for their role and operate under their own applicable terms and privacy practices.

Personal information may be processed outside the learner's province or country, including in the United States or other locations where a selected sign-in or service provider works. Information processed in another jurisdiction may be subject to that jurisdiction's laws and lawful access requirements. NIYAMA-VIDYĀ remains accountable for personal information under its control as required by applicable law.

Information may also be disclosed when reasonably necessary to comply with law, protect rights or security, investigate misuse, or obtain professional advice. NIYAMA-VIDYĀ does not currently sell learner personal information or disclose it to third-party advertisers.

Third-party marks identify the sign-in method.Google, GitHub and LinkedIn names or provider identifiers on authentication controls identify the corresponding provider; they do not imply sponsorship or endorsement of NIYAMA-VIDYĀ.Open the attribution register →
08

Retention, deactivation and deletion

NIYAMA-VIDYĀ keeps personal information only for the purpose that required it, subject to reasonable operational, security and legal needs.

RecordCurrent retention approachDeletion boundary
Learner profile, progress, bookmarks and preferencesWhile the learner registration remains active so learning continuity can be providedSelf-service deactivation deletes learning state, clears profile values/preferences and deactivates the NIYAMA-VIDYĀ learner registration
Submitted support requests and feedbackOnly as long as reasonably needed to handle the submission and maintain necessary operational, security, dispute or legal recordsDeleted or anonymised when no longer reasonably required for those purposes, subject to applicable legal or security needs
Authentication identityWhile needed to provide or review authenticated access under the account-service rulesNIYAMA-VIDYĀ learner deactivation does not automatically erase the underlying provider/account-service identity; request a separate privacy review
Session and browser stateFor the active session/token lifetime or until sign-out/browser clearingServer session is cleared on sign-out; browser/provider controls govern remaining local or provider state
Technical and security logsFor service delivery, troubleshooting, abuse prevention and provider-defined operational periodsRemoved under the relevant operational provider's retention process unless preservation is required for security or law

A privacy request can be used when self-service controls are not sufficient, including review of the underlying sign-in identity or a submitted support record. Deletion may be limited where information must temporarily be preserved for security, legal compliance, dispute handling or another lawful purpose; the reason should be explained when applicable.

09

Security and learner isolation

NIYAMA-VIDYĀ uses provider-based authentication instead of a NIYAMA-VIDYĀ password, secure session handling, authenticated request checks, account-access policies, origin checks for account-changing requests where implemented, and rate limits on feedback and support submissions. Access to learning records is designed to remain limited to the authenticated learner.

No website can guarantee perfect security. Do not place passwords, API keys, payment information, government identifiers, medical records, confidential employer/customer information or other unnecessary sensitive data into NIYAMA-VIDYĀ forms or learning features.

10

Your choices and privacy rights

You can browse public information, route-planning and trust pages without signing in. Registered learning content requires a learner account. Within Settings, a signed-in learner can control dashboard visibility, export current NIYAMA-VIDYĀ learner data, and delete learning-state data while deactivating the NIYAMA-VIDYĀ learner registration.

Depending on applicable law, you may also request access to personal information, an account of its use or disclosure, correction of inaccurate information, withdrawal of consent where available, deletion, restriction, objection or portability. NIYAMA-VIDYĀ may need to verify identity before acting on a request and may apply lawful exceptions. Where PIPEDA applies, access requests are ordinarily addressed within its required period, subject to permitted extensions and exceptions.

To exercise a right that cannot be completed through Settings, submit a Privacy / personal data request. Describe the requested outcome without sending provider passwords, authentication codes or unnecessary identity documents.

11

Young learners

Public NIYAMA-VIDYĀ information pages can be viewed without creating a learner account. A person must be at least 13 years old to create or use a NIYAMA-VIDYĀ learner account. Anyone who has not reached the age of majority where they live should review the account terms and this notice with a parent or legal guardian.

NIYAMA-VIDYĀ does not currently collect birth dates or operate an independent age-verification system. Google, GitHub or LinkedIn users must also satisfy the selected provider's requirements. If a parent or guardian believes that a child under 13 created a learner account or submitted personal information, contact the NIYAMA-VIDYĀ Privacy Lead through Contact & Support so the account and information can be reviewed.

12

Privacy questions, requests and complaints

The NIYAMA-VIDYĀ Privacy Lead is the contact for privacy inquiries and complaints. Select Privacy / personal data in Contact & Support, provide a reply email and describe the issue or requested outcome. A successful request returns a reference identifier.

NIYAMA-VIDYĀ will review the request, may ask for proportionate identity verification, and will explain the outcome or any applicable limitation. If a concern remains unresolved, you may have the right to contact the privacy regulator responsible for your location. In Canada, information about raising a concern is available from the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

13

Changes to this notice

This notice must be reviewed before or when NIYAMA-VIDYĀ materially changes its account-data categories, purposes, recipients, retention practices, payments, analytics, advertising or age-related features. A material change should be identified through an updated effective or last-updated date and, where appropriate, a prominent notice or renewed consent.

The current notice describes the learner workspace, feedback and support features as they operate on the effective date above. It does not claim that every privacy law worldwide applies in the same way; rights and obligations depend on the relevant circumstances and jurisdiction.
